Adequate bunny housing is something we strongly want to educate new bunny owners about with the hopes to eliminate "small cages" for bunnies. One of the main reasons we avoid a small cage for a bunny is litter training. We've worked very hard to litter train not only our entire herd, but every single baby born here is also introduced and started on litter training. We use large sized cat litter pans and well, frankly that just won't fit in a cage. Successful litter training also eliminates the need for a cage or hutch with wire bottom flooring. Who wants to lay and live on cold hard wire? Not me! So certainly not my pet either! A litter trained bunny is FAR more enjoyable and manageable as well. We recommend large pen style enclosures, like a dog play pen. Solid hard flooring works best as well, as its easier to clean and eliminates carpet chewing. The large space also allows plenty of room for your bun to run and play when they aren't out of their enclosure with you. You have room to add extra things like bunny beds, tents or anything else fun and entertaining for you and your bunny to enjoy. Below are some INSPIRATION photos for you to use as reference in creating your new bunny set up. Have fun!
